The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Nov. 27 awarded the Municipality of Binalonan with the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) during the National Awarding Ceremony for Northern Luzon Cluster held at the Manila Hotel.
Binalonan is a consistent recipient of this prestigious award of excellence in good governance since 2011.
Based on the SGLG 2017 list, 28 out of the 44 municipalities in the province of Pangasinan were conferred with the said award for 2017.
In consonance with the DILG guidelines, local government units have to pass the upgraded criteria of SGLG covering the core areas and essential areas.
These include financial administration, disaster management, social protection, peace and order, business friendliness and competitiveness, environmental management, and tourism, culture and arts.
Aside from the honor and prestige of being an awardee, it qualifies the municipality to access the Performance Challenge Fund.
Binalonan credits the award from the unwavering cooperation of the municipal officials led by Mayor Guico, Vice Mayor Patague, SB members and Norman V. Ramos, MLGO with the LGU department heads and employees and its citizens.
βThe SGLG award is a testimony of how the municipal government offer and perform good governance and sincere services to the community,β Guico said.
The other LGUs of Pangasinan along with Binalonan who were conferred of the SGLG award from the DILG are Aguilar, Alcala, Asingan, Balungao, Bautista, Bayambang, Bolinao, Bugallon, Burgos, Calasiao, Dasol, Infanta, Laoac, Lingayen, Malasiqui, Manaoag, Mangaldan, Mangatarem, Rosales, San Fabian, San Manuel, San Nicolas, Sta. Barbara, Tayug, Umingan, Urbiztondo and Villasis.
