The University of Eastern Pangasinan (UEP) reeled off the celebration of its foundation anniversary on Nov. 5-7 through a parade around the vicinity of the poblacion.
Said event celebrates on how the university has transcended in its journey to deliver a high standard of quality and excellence for the last 12 years as the only local university managed and owned by the municipal government
The three-day celebration kicked off with an opening program after the parade headed by the universityβs top officials.
Dr. Evelyn Abalos, university secretary and dean of the College of HRM, rendered her opening remarks followed by an inspirational message of Dr. Jose Padillo, vice-president of academic affairs.
Day 1-2: Test of Strength
Sports events highlighted the first day and second day of the celebration.
Varsity player Renzo Mendijar led the lighting of the torch. He also administered the Oath of Sportsmanship of all athletes.
Afterwards, the excitement of the students could be manifested as the different deans and the departmentsβ muses raised their banners.
This was followed by Dean Leo Sarmiento of the College of Information Technology who declared the 12th Foundation anniversary open.
In the afternoon, Laro ng Lahi games including Tug of War, Limborak, Jak & Poy, Hep hep Hurray, Longest Line, and Amazing Race were conducted.
Sports events in the 2nd day were basketball (Boys), Volleyball (Girls) Table Tennis ( Boys and Girls), Badminton (Boys & Girls) and Chess (Boys & Girls).
Meanwhile, a pre-pageant was done in the afternoon to judge the sports wear and talent competition for Mr. & Miss UEP.
Testimonial Dinner
A testimonial dinner and program was held on the second day where previous graduates were made-known upholding the schoolβs vision and mission.
UEP alumni who made it in the occasion were Geno Ganancial, a manager of Jollibee Baguio and Jeano Lardizabal, a barista of Manila Peninsula. Other alumni were the recently passers of the LET 2017.
Councilor Noel Apolinario Bautista, Chairman of the Committeee on Education of the Sangguniang Bayan was the guest of honor and speaker in this affair.
The guest speaker challenged the alumni to make the UEP proud of them and the faculty βto give what the students deserve.β
Day 3 Highlights
An academic contest was done during the 3rd day of the celebration where, essay writing, poster-slogan and quiz bee were contested by all departments.
The final night ended with the selection of Mr. & Miss UEP 2017. John Mark Baybayan and Raisa de Vera romped off with the title respectively, both from the College of Education.
On the other hand, Mr. Talent was Brendahl Natividad of IT and Miss talent was won by Renejen Daranciang of HRM.
The winners in the other eventβs contest included the following: Sports Events- Business Ad, Laro ng Lahi-HRM; Poster- slogan-Education; Essay Writing- IT; Quiz Bee- Education: UEP Got talent- Criminology. Over-all Champion- Education.
