After staying and working in Spain for more than four decades, a Binalonian was honored by the Philippine Embassy in Madrid for being successful in his personal and professional life as an overseas Filipino.
Editha Carino Etrata was honored through the 1st βGawad Ambassador Philippe J. Lhuillier Para sa Pinakamatagal na Manggagawang Pilipino sa Espanya at Andorra.β
Launched in February 2018, this yearβs recognition was given to ten OFWβs in Spain and Andorra for their hard work and dedication. The other Filipino awardees are from San Manuel, Pangasinan, Sta. Cruz, Ilocos Sur, Iriga City, Albay, Palompon, Leyte, Dasmarinas, Cavite, Tayug, Pangasinan, Munos, Nueva Ecija, and Manila.
In his speech, Philippine Ambassador to Spain Philippe J. Lhuillier hailed all Filipino workers all over the world and expressed his utmost admiration and respect to the men and women who braved homesickness and various difficulties to provide for their families and loved ones.
Etrata and the other awardees received trophies, Philippine-Spain pins, and cash prizes from Lhuillier.
