Binalonan Mayor Ramon Guico III together with Vice Mayor Melicio Patague II are now pushing for Grab tricycle operation in Binalonan in a meeting held July 18 with representatives of Grab Philippines at the Office of the Mayor.
Guico said that the main objective of Grab Binalonan is to protect the interest of the riding public.
Two months ago, officers and members of the tricycle operators and drivers association held a dialogue with the municipal officials regarding the regulation of tricycle fares in Binalonan. In this meeting, it was pointed out that many tricycle drivers do not follow the scheduled fare rates.
Dubbed as Grab Binalonan, the project aims to address complaints of βexorbitant fare rates, choosy and arrogant tricycle driversβ among other complaints reaching the office of the mayor.
In terms of fare rates, the Tuktuk would be P 30 pesos for the first kilometer, plus P 10 for the succeeding kilometers. For the regular tricycle, P 20 for the first kilometer and P 10 for the succeeding kilometers.
Also, six passengers can conveniently ride the tuktuk, while the regular tricycle can only accommodate three.
To book a Grab tricycle, a passenger needs to download and open the Grab app, then choose the Grab Tricycle icon and input the promo code.
Once the ride is booked, passengers can contact the drivers to let them know their exact location and wait to be picked up.
Grab Binalonan will be launched in August after a public hearing.
