The Binalonan Rural Health Unit on July 26 conducted its annual nutrition month celebration through a lecture and a search for Batang Healthy at The Tent Events Center with the theme, βUgaliing Magtanim, Sapat na Nutrisyon Aanihin.β
The event was organized by Municipal Health Officer Dr. Framila Cuaresma Dela Cruz, and was participated in by selected pupils, parents and teachers from different barangays.
Binalonan Vice Mayor Melicio Patague II emphasized the importance of proper nutrition to good health, stressing that βhealth is wealthβ and βif the body is weak, the mind is weakβ.
Furthermore, he also commended Binalonan RHU for organizing the event and expressed support to the programs and projects of the department.
Meanwhile, Dela Cruz lectured on Vegetable Consumption of the Filipino Families, while Ricardo Tabuac, Binalonan municipal agriculturist, discussed Vegetable Growing and encouraged mothers to plant vegetables in their backyards for proper nutrition and additional income.
On the other hand, Diane Anonas talked about Classifications of Vegetables while Mary Ann Simon discussed about the Food Pyramid. Charlene Laroza tackled Pagplano, Pagpili at Paghahanda ng mga Masusustansyang Pagkain ng Pamilya.
Lastly, Joanne Patacsil gave tips to encourage family members to eat vegetables.
In the Search for Batang Healthy 2018, the winners were Rainier Vash Drig Gandian, Batang Healthy 2018 and Most Well-Groomed, Ayeisha Brielle Castanaga, Best In Talent and 1st Runner-up, and Rodel Galdiona, Best in Smile, 2nd-runner-up. Meanwhile Princess Ara Andaya was also given a Peopleβs Choice Award.
