To strengthen disaster preparedness for effective response, an earthquake drill was undertaken Aug. 17 by the Municipality of Binalonan, led by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (MDRRMC) in cooperation with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and PNP.
The Drill started at 2 PM with a one-minute sound of an alarm and crumbling sounds. Everyone performed the DUCK, COVER and HOLD maneuver and immediately evacuated the municipal building right after the sound of the alarm.
Search and Rescue Team entered the building to extricate trapped and injured employees and were immediately given medical first aid before being transported in an ambulance to the nearest emergency hospital.
The endeavour was made possible through the leadership of the municipal officials under Mayor Ramon V. Guico III and Vice-Mayor Melicio F. Patague II with the generated efforts of the MDRRMC Head Oliver M. Salagubang, BFP led by SFO4 Nicolas D. Angeles Jr. and PCI Arvin Jacob of the PNP.
