UEP celebrates 13th founding anniversary via various activities

The University of Eastern Pangasinan on Dec. 5-7 celebrated its 13th founding anniversary thru color fun run, launching of its school paper and university hymn, academic contests, games, and beauty pageant.

A brainchild of Binalonan Mayor Ramon V. Guico III, UEP, Binalonan’s local university, celebrated with the theme, ”Embracing Change, Accepting Challenge and Fostering Cooperation”.

A color fun run attended by the UEP administrative staff, employees, and students from the different colleges, opened the three-day founding anniversary.

Himig UEP, composed by Reden S. Calabiao, a public secondary school teacher and part-time faculty member of UEP, was launched and sang in public for the first time by the university officials, employees and students. UEP President Dr. Evelyn Abalos, who according to her had been longing for a university hymn, expressed her appreciation.

The Eastern Rays, UEP’s school publication with Jan Karlo Thomas Ranches as adviser, also had its official launch by the university president and members of the editorial staff.

Six competing teams from the different departments outperformed each other in the Field Demonstration. College of Education was awarded first place; HRM was second place, and BSBA was third place.

Laro ng Lahi such as Tug of War, Amazing Race, Agawan ng Panyo, and Hulian ng Biik were played by the teachers and students. Also, student athletes competed in basketball, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, and chess.

An exhibition game of UEP employees was also held.

Contests on essay writing, poster-slogan making, and quiz bee among students were also held.

Highlight of the celebration was the search for Mr. and Miss UEP 2018. Of the 10 male candidates and 12 female candidates, chosen Miss UEP 2018 was Krystal Jade Castro from the College of Criminal Justice Education; Mr. UEP 2018 was Renr Van Mindaro from the College of Business Administration.
