Local farmersβ fair highlights agricultural bounty in Binalonan
To showcase the richness of local agriculture, the Municipality of Binalonan held its annual Farmersβ Fair Feb. 15 at Municipal Grounds which was participated in by hundreds of town residents, as well local and foreign tourists.
Dubbed as ‘Rambakan ti Mannalon’, the fair featured Carabao Parade, Binnalonan, Search for Mutya ng Kabukiran, and Search for Pinaka.
In the Carabao Parade, 24 beautifully-adorned carabaos with their handlers from the different barangays participated and the judges came up with the champion, first runner-up and second runner-up.
Free lunch and snacks consisting mostly of native delicacies were served in the Binnalonan Festival. Municipal officials and employees, farmers, barangay representatives, and visitors joined in the partaking of the foods prepared by the farmers.
In the Search for Mutya ng Kabukiran, 24 candidates representing the 24 barangays of Binalonan competed and from among them were selected the Mutya ng Kabukiran, first runner-up, and second runner-up.
With the given criteria, in the Search for Pinaka, animals, vegetables, and foods were declared champions. Among the Pinaka were champion roaster, champion hen, champion ingkiwar, champion nilattian, champion kalabasa, champion upo, champion ripe papaya, among others.
Municipal Agriculturist Ricardo Tabuac, with his staff and the assistance and support of the officers and members of the different farmer associations, spearheaded the event.
