The Department of Social Welfare and Development pursuant to its Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) on April 4 awarded food tribike carts to 40 4Ps (Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program) recipients at the southern part of the Convergence Park.
The awarding was undertaken in cooperation with the Local government Unit (LGU) of Binalonan headed by Mayor Ramon V. Guico III and Vice-Mayor Melicio F. Patague II.
The food tribike carts were specifically awarded to 40 recipients from the following barangays: Sumabnit, Mangcasuy, Capas, Pasileng Sur, Dumayat, Poblacion and Sta. Maria Norte.
The carts included complete package of materials with cooking paraphernalia and a bicycle costing about Php 14,500 while an additional food products worth Php 500.00 as a starter for the business were given to each of the recipients. As a whole the food carts given to the 40 recipients costs more or less 600 thousand pesos.
Vice Mayor Melicio F. Patague II cut the ceremonial ribbon of the tribikes cart to be awarded with Councilor Josephine Caburnay.
Patague in his message challenged the recipients that the package that they received will be used profitably to generate progress not for other purposes. He reminded that they will adhere to health and sanitation to help keep their clients and buyers safe from getting sick.
Mrs. Marilyn Imbat, Binalonan DSWD officer welcomed all recipients, guests and officials informing everyone that SLP projects such as goat raising sari-sari store and hog raising as well call center training were awarded already to more or less 50% of the 4Pβs in Binalonan.
The SLP program aims to improve the socioeconomic capacity of the participants through micro-enterprise development and employment facilitation activities that shall ultimately provide a sustainable income source.
