LGU Binalonan conducts workshop on climate, disaster risk assessment
The Local Government Unit of Binalonan conducted a two-day workshop on Climate and Disaster Risk Assessment (CDRA).
The event, held Apr. 15-16 at the Sangguniang Bayan Session Hall, was spearheaded by the Municipal Planning and Development Office, the Local Government Unit of Binalonan on April 15-16 conducted a two-day workshop on Climate and Disaster Risk Assessment (CDRA) at the Sangguniang Bayan Session Hall.
With the assistance of staff from the University of the Philippines-Diliman, National Academy of the Philippines and National Economic and Development Authority, some barangay captains of Binalonan and selected municipal employees from different departments did some activities and presented their outputs.
In one activity, the participants were asked to identify calamities which hit or may hit the municipality and their impact on environment, people, property, services, and livelihood.
During the assessment period, the barangay captains and the municipal employees who will be assigned will gather data in the 24 barangays of Binalonan. The collated data can be used for validating risk assessment and for monitoring the effectiveness of Disaster Risks Reduction (DRR) measures.
Engr. Elizabeth Aquino, MPDO coordinator, said that the results of the assessment will be used in the preparation of a Comprehensive Land Use Plan for Binalonan.
Municipal Agriculturist Ricardo Tabuac, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer Marilyn Imbat, Municipal Health Officer Dr. Framila Dela Cruz, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer in Charge Oliver Salagubang also attended the workshop.
Another workshop will be conducted during the last week of April.
