Guicos assert political clout on May 13 election

May 22, 2019 | News

The Guicos asserted their political clout when they overwhelmingly won in the May 13 election.

Incumbent Binalonan Mayor Ramon V. Guico III won as the new representative for the Fifth District of Pangasinan with 125,136 votes. He dethroned Cong. Amado Espino Jr. who garnered 121, 624 votes.

From the very start, Guico III was branded as a β€œno-win candidate” against the incumbent congressman. With his victory, he is now regarded as a dragon buster.

Guico’s unprecedented victory is no surprise for he worked very hard during the campaign. With his party mates and volunteers, he has gone to the remote barangays of the district and manifested his intense passion and sincere desire to win and serve the people.

He made clear pronouncements on what he would do if he would get elected. Specifically, he mentioned education, health, and employment. In addition, he cited various potential programs and projects that would propel progress and development in the fifth district.

Moreover, the young Guico who served Binalonan for almost 12 years- as vice mayor for a term and three terms as mayor- has very impressive credentials and relevant experience as government official that will surely contribute to his being competent, brilliant, and high-performing congressman.

β€œI want to be a unifying leader for a common vision for the fifth district. I want to unify all the mayors because they have so many plans for the district,” said Guico III, the very first congressman from Binalonan.

β€œ Magagawa na natin ung mga pangarap natin noon para sa Binalonan, with more authority, influence, and budget,” the congressman-elect added.

Meanwhile, Ramon N. Guico Jr. who has served Binalonan as mayor for 18 years and president of the League of Municipalities in the Philippines (LMP) for 3 consecutive terms, garnered 15,883 votes to foil the mayoralty bid of his nephew, Councilor Ryan Gotoc, who got 10,924 votes.

For the vice mayoralty race, Guico’s running mate, reelectionist Melicio F. Patague II also won over to Eduardo O. Boado.

Boado got 10,966 votes while Patague garnered 14,715 votes in what appeared to be a peaceful political election in the town. Earlier Conrado Paul Ramos withdrew in the race but he regstered 631 votes.

The duly-elected councilors to make up the Sangguniang Bayan (SB) are : Glory Jovelyn Manaois with 16.196 votes followed by Dra. Josephine Caburnay with 16,118; Dr. Noel Apolinario Bautista with 14,913 votes; Bryan Louie Balangue, 14,666; Bryan Gotoc with 13,212; Jerry Aradanas, 12,046; Lorenzo Tambo with 10,737 votes and making it to number 8 is Atty.Ernesto Buquing with 10,728.

Of the 8 councilors elected, 7 are under the Team Aksyon Monching. Re-elected were Caburnay Bautista, Aradanas, and Tambo. First termers are Association of Barangay Captains President Balangue, Moreno Barangay Captain Manaois, Buquing and Gotoc.
