A few weeks after his unprecedented win as congressman of the 5th District of Pangasinan, Ramon V. Guico III shared words of wisdom to the graduates of the University of Eastern Pangasinan (UEP) for SY 2018-2019, emphasizing that the key to a great life is achieving success and paying forward.
The outgoing Binalonan Mayor, who is also UEPβs founder and chairman of the board of regents, is the guest of honor and keynote speaker during the 9th Commencement Exercises held May 24 at the Ramon J. Guico Sr. Sports and Civic Center. He was introduced by UEP President Dr. Evelyn Abalos Tomboc.
In his speech, he urged all 195 graduates from different colleges to have a vision for themselves , their families and their communities, and be prepared to fulfill their destiny.
βGo for your vision and have the commitment. Most importantly, depend or rely to God. Pray hard,β Guico said.
βI am proud of UEP. UEP is already a full-fledged university and I am happy we are now reaping the fruit of our sacrifices. Support UEP. This has been my baby. It is one of the reasons why I ran for Congress,β he added.
Furthermore, he also informed that 3500 scholarship slots for the coming school year await students who will be enrolling in the university, in addition to the 200 slots granted by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) through the Financial Assistance for Tertiary Education Act or UniFAST.
Patrisha Ann Lagnayo and Dary John Casco, both from the College of Education, led the graduating class as Cum Laude.
Gracing the event were Mayor-elect Ramon N. Guico Jr., Vice-Mayor Melicio Patague II, Councilors Josephine Caburnay, Noel Apolinario Bautista, Jerry Aradanas, Lorenzo Tambo, Liga ng Barangay Captains President Brian Balangue and SK Federated President Ronald Biado.
