The Department of Environment and Natural Resources thru the Environment Management Bureau Region I on June 25 awarded LGU Binalonan a plaque of recognition of the approval of its Ten Year Solid Waste Management Plan during the 4th Ecological Solid Waste Management Summit at Marand Resort and Spa, Bauang, La Union.
Binalonan Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer (MENRO), Engineer Clarissa C. Cabacang, who prepared the plan and was attending the summit, received the plaque.
The Ten Year Solid Waste Management Plan of the Municipality of Binalonan for the period 2015-2024 has been approved by the National Solid Waste Management Commission.
Pioneered by incumbent 5th district representative and former Binalonan Mayor Ramon Guico III, the townβs solid waste management plan contained activities which shall be implemented by the LGU to ensure the efficient management of solid wastes generated within the municipality.
LGU Binalonan was advised to have a review of the approved plan and submit an annual progress report on the strategies implemented and accomplishments to the National Solid Waste Management Commission.
Binalonan and Alaminos were the first two towns to have prepared and approved Ten Year Solid Waste Management Plan. Now, there are only eight towns in Pangasinan with approved Ten Year SWM Plan.
