The Millennium Achievers Science Club of the JGMNHS on June 14 was awarded Most Outstanding Science Club of the Philippines for 2018-2019 by the Philippine Society of Youth Science Clubs (PSYSC) during the awarding ceremony at the UP Alumni Association Ang Bahay ng Alumni, University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City.
Dr. Leonilyn M. Corona, Head Teacher III of the Science and Technology department of JGMNHS, informed that the entries were judged based on the documented activities such as science and environmental camps, trainings, seminars and contests attended and conducted, clean-up drives, waste management, tree planting activities, and advocacies of the club.
After the evaluation of documents, the top ten were selected. The interview and oral defense with the club president served as the final phase of judging. After which, the top 5 were chosen and were ranked.
Aside from being number 1 most outstanding science club, the MASC won 3 special awards- Best in Social Media Prominence, Best in Advocacy in Education and Best in Advocacy Award
Awarded most outstanding, the club won Php50 thousand, a trophy and certificate.
Meanwhile,Jeff Winxin Collado, a former Grade 10 student and president of the club, was granted a 2-week observation trip to California, USA by Building Lives for Better Future.
With Collado, also present during the awarding ceremony were Aaron Llarenas, Pamela Ramos, Justine Mae Artus and Jasmine Celindro. They were accompanied by their advisers Wilson Raymund Dalao, John Arnold Ancheta and Joanna Marie Dismaya.
