Binalonan Rural Health Unit staff, headed by Municipal Health Officer Dr. Framila dela Cruz, municipal and barangay officials, and some municipal department heads on September 4 joined forces in the dengue awareness campaign held in Casubiduan, Bugayong, Binalonan.
Spearheaded by Dr. Dela Cruz, the event which is the 3rd of the series of campaigns aims to create awareness among the residents of Bugayong about dengue, an infectious disease caused by aedes aegypti mosquitoes.
Present to show their support to the campaign were Councilor Josephine Caburnay, chair, Committee on Health, Councilor Noel Apolinario Bautista, chair of the Committee on Environment, Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer Engr. Clarissa Cabacang, Teresita Dacpano of the Press & Publication, Punong Barangay of Bugayong, William Aradanas and his kagawads.
Councilors Caburnay and Bautista both urged the residents to join the campaign against dengue. Engineer Cabacang told the residents that her office is always ready to extend assistance in the campaign.
Rochelle Pilapil, registered nurse and sanitation officer in-charge of Binalonan, lectured about dengue, including the symptoms and prevention of the disease. She emphasized on the 4S Strategy, against Dengue which is ” Search and destroy breeding sites, Self-protection measures, Seek early consultation for fever, and Say yes to fogging when there is an impending outbreak.β
The jingle βPag walang lamok, walang dengue!βwas repeatedly played as the RHU staff went around to distribute flyers.
Earlier, the barangay officials and the residents had their clean-up drive in the barangay.
Dela Cruz informed that RHU Binalonan offers free Dengue NS1 AG, a test for dengue. Dengue patients can also avail of CVC platelet count from the health center.
The campaign against dengue was launched in Barangay Poblacion a week ago but has started actually in the different barangays with the rural health midwives spearheading the campaign in their areas of assignment.
