Rep Guico partners with Under Armour Southeast Asia for 3×3 basketball clinic, tourney in 5th district
Pangasinan Fifth District thru Representative Ramon V. Guico III in partnership with the Under Armour Southeast Asia on September 8 and 14 conducted the 3×3 Basketball Clinic and Tournament, respectivelyΒ at the Ramon J. Guico Sports and Civic Center.
Selected players and coaches from Binalonan, Pozorrubio, Sison, Villasis, and other towns of the fifth district joined the two-day event.
Under Armour Southeast Asia through the Basketball Clinic led by a professional coach from Manila, the coaches and players were taught the basic and advanced 3×3 basketball skills on the style of play, coaching and skills development.
UA targets to bring the knowledge of the sport closer to the people and to the next generation and intends to support 3×3 basketball as a sport.
During the culmination event, the ballers were featured in 3×3 tournament and potential players and coaches were discovered and are expected to continue their training on 3×3 basketball in Manila.
Leo Arnaiz, fifth district coordinator, spearheaded the event.
In the Philippines, formal 3×3 basketball competition started in 1996. In Southeast Asia, the National Basketball Association staged its first 3×3 tournament in July 2011 at the Mall of Asia.
Governed by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas, the Philippinesβ national 3×3 team represents the country in international competition.
