BINALONAN: GREEN CANOPY PROJECT

The Local Government Unit of Binalonan, in partnership with Citicore Foundation and Citicore Renewable Energy Corporation, conducted a tree planting activity in Barangay Sta. Catalina on October 16, 2024. With the guidance of the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office, Municipal Agriculture Office, and the Municipal Tourism and Information Office, members of the Binalonan MDRRMO, PNP, and BFP and representatives from the WCC Aeronautical and Technological College Binalonan Campus Community Extension and Services Office and College of Aeronautical Engineering, University of Eastern Pangasinan College of Business Administration, and College of Accounting, planted 250 fruit bearing trees provided by the Province of Pangasinan Provincial Agriculture Office.

Bago nagsimula ang pasukan ng ating mga estudyante para sa S.Y. 2024-2025, pinangunahan ni Mayor Ramon RG Guico IV at ng mga lokal na opisyales ng bayan ng Binalonan ang inauguration at blessing ng bagong 3-story 6 classroom school building sa South Central School para sa mga mag-aaral ng Binalonan.

Muling kinilala ng LGU Binalonan ang ilan sa ating mga centenarian mula sa iba’t-ibang barangay ng Binalonan. Ang mga centenarians na nakatanggap ng pagkilala ay sina lolo Adriano Layos Fajardo mula Barangay Cili na isinilang noong March 7, 1924, lola Basilisa Tumacder Biado na isinilang noong April 15, 1924 at lola Basilia Guico Siador na isinilang noong June 14, 1924, at nagmula sa Barangay Sta. Catalina.

Location of Center (4:00 AM):
The center of the eye of Typhoon CARINA was estimated based on all available data at 290 km Northeast of Itbayat, Batanes (22.9Β°N, 123.5Β°E)
Intensity:
Maximum sustained winds of 155 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 190 km/h, and central pressure of 950 hPa
Present Movement:
Northwestward at 25 km/h
Extent of Tropical Cyclone Winds:
Strong to typhoon-force winds extend outwards up to 700 km from the center

CHED Region I recognizes UEP as higher education institution

University of Eastern Pangasinan is now a certified higher education institution!!

The Commission on Higher Education Region I on September 30 recognized University of Eastern Pangasinan as a higher education institution after having complied with the requirements for the establishment and operation of a higher education institution pursuant to the provisions of CMO No. 32, series of 2006.

Dr. Rogelio Galera Jr., OIC, Office of the Director IV, CHED Region I, congratulated the UEP as the first local university in Region I to be recognized as higher education institution. He also awarded UEP a permit to operate the first and second level of the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy and Bachelor of Science in Accounting Technology during the Awarding Ceremony held at the Ramon J. Guico Sr. Sports and Civic Center.

Galera challenged the university president and other UEP officials β€œto pursue institutional sustainability assessment and have extensive research and extension programs, center of development, and center of excellence in your programs to make UEP the best university in Region I.”

Galera affirmed the commission’s pledge to support UEP in its task to provide quality education and more opportunities of scholarship to students.

Binalonan Mayor and Chairman of the Board of Regents Ramon N. Guico Jr. recalled the establishment of UEP in the upper palengke of the town and how it metamorphosed in its present location at the Mac Arthur Highway of Brgy. Canarvacanan. He further thanked the CHED officials for the recognition.

Councilors Noel Apolinario Bautista, chairman of the Committee on Education in the SB and member of the Board of Regents, and Josephine Caburnay, also aΒ  member of the Board of Regents gave their goodwill messages and cited how the UEP has helped in the development of Binalonan into becoming a university town.

Vice Mayor Melicio F. Patague IIΒ  represented 5th District Congressman Ramon V. Guico III, Honorary Chairman, Board of Regents, as the keynote speaker.

Patague related the hardships the Sangguniang Bayan has undergone before the approval of the establishment of the university led by then Mayor RamonΒ  β€œMon Mon” Guico III. He said that the recognition of UEP as higher education institution is β€œa novel educational mileage” that could benefit the present population of more than two thousand three hundred students in the coming years.

 

 

Meanwhile, UEP President Dr. Evelyn Abalos-Tomboc accepted the challenge of the recognition and urged the students, stakeholders, employees and officials of the university to continue supporting the university in its quest for a better UEP.

Officials of CHED Region I, municipal officials led by Mayor Guico, department heads of the various offices of the municipality graced the occasion.

At present there are about nine courses and Diploma of Midwifery ( Levels I-II)Β  authorized by CHED for UEP to operate. These are:Β  Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management, Bachelor in Secondary Education,Β  Bachelor in Elementary Education, Bachelor of Science in Criminology and Bachelor of Science in Midwifery, Bachelor of Science in Accounting Technology and Bachelor of Science in Accountancy ( Levels I-II).

Students of UEP, can now avail of free tuition and miscellaneous fees in accordance with R.A 10931, an act promoting Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education.
