LGU Binalonan Team A on September 29 snatched the national championship title of the Under Armour 3×3 Southeast Asia (Philippine Leg) Basketball Clinic and Tournament, boys category, after defeating Claret School of Quezon City during the finals held at Moro Lorenzo Sports Center of the Ateneo de Manila University.
Team Binalonan A basketeersKengiel Tobias, Justine Charles Ladaga, Wilmar Kelvin Bandong, and Alvin Amos posted 20 wins out of the 20 games they played during the entire duration of the national finals.
Leo Arnaiz, the team coach and sports coordinator of Pangasinan Fifth District, said, βThe boys won because of their impeccable shooting prowess. I know the boys would be facing much taller players so I had to focus on their shooting.β
Arnaiz informed that there were 25 competing teams during the finals and the teams were divided in 3 groups. Laoac, Pozorrubio and Alcala girls also played during the national finals.
Arnaiz said that Pangasinan 5th District Representative Ramon V. Guico III should be congratulated for his sports program and LGU Binalonan for the support.
Team Binalonan A was awarded 35 thousand pesos and individual medals. Team Captain Kengiel Tobias was awarded Most Valuable Player (MVP).
Before the national finals, Team Binalonan A and other teams from the fifth district of Pangasinan had 3×3 basketball clinic and tournament conducted by Under Armour 3×3 Southeast Asia at the Ramon J. Guico Sr. Sports Civic Center.
