The Department of Agriculture BinalonanΒ on October 25 spearheaded a model farm field day in Barangay Sta. Catalina after the establishment of cassava model farm utilizing mechanized farming technology.
Local Government Unit of Binalonan through DA Binalonan and the Department of Agriculture Region I put up the twenty-hectare cassava model farm owned by 35 cooperators from Barangay Sta. Catalina and Moreno.
Earlier before the program, visitors and participants had a field visit to the cassava model farm.
In his message, Vice Mayor Melicio F. Patague II thanked the regional and municipal officials and employees of the agriculture department for establishing the model farm. He said, βThe project will surely benefit our farmers. To our farmers, you have my support together withΒ Congressman Monmon Guico and Mayor Monching Guico.β
Arnold Tomboc, president of Sta. Catalina Cassava, Corn and Rice Farmers Association, Inc., opened the program and gave his opening remarks.
DA Regional Corn Focal Person Rhoda GalbanΒ gave the overview of the project and discussed the economic impact of the project. The implementation of the project is done by means of a visual presentation. John Leo Bungubung, DAβs corn technical staff, did the presentation of results of the three fertilizer applications used- general recommendation with 8 bags T14, general recommendation with Biozome (with best result) , and general recommendation with Vita Crop.
VM Patague, together with Councilors Glory Jovelyn Manaois, Bryan Louie Balangue and Ronald Biado, led in the awarding of certificates to the 35 cassava model farm cooperators.
Municipal Agricultural Technologists Manuel Luis Jr. and Cleofe Martinez emceed the program.
