What is climate change? What is green diet? What is green mind? What is ozone layer? What is green architecture? What is the power of love? What is taxation?
It was a learning experience for the barangay officials from Canarvacanan, Linmansangan and Sta. CatalinaΒ on October 29 when they were asked the aforecited questionsΒ during the second out-of-session hall session of the Sangguniang Bayan of Binalonan held at the Capas Elementary School.
With Vice Mayor Melicio Patague II as the presiding officer, the barangay officials tried their best to answer the questions while seeking for the approval of their proposed projects, programs, annual investment plan, supplementary budget, and others from the members of the Sangguniang Bayan.
Patague also advised the barangay officials to be selective in attending seminars. He said, βNot all seminars shall be attended. Seminars shall be concentrated in Binalonan. Be guided accordingly in the utilization of your fund.β
He reprimanded the barangay officials, who according to Binalonan PNP reports, neglected the implementation of Project Lighthouse, a project that requires barangay officials to stay in the barangay hall the whole night and provide security for the community.
Patague also informed that the entry of pork including processed pork products to Binalonan is prohibited.
He also urged the barangay officials to collect certain amounts from buyers of local products as long as there are ordinances as basis for collection.
Councilor Ernesto Buquing, chairman of the Committee on Rules and Legal Matters, advised the barangay officials to pass ordinances that give them power to collect money for the barangay.
Earlier, Buquing told the barangay officials,βHindi kami nandito para kayo ay pagalitan o hiyain. Nandito kami para i-guide kayo para walang maging problema.β
The first out-of-session hall session was held in Sta. Catalina last September 3.
