For exceptional performance as Agricultural Extension Worker under the Corn Banner Program, Manuel O. Luis, Jr. of the Department of Agriculture (D.A.) , Binalonan, Pangasinan on November 12 was awarded as Outstanding Agricultural Extension Worker during the National Quality Corn Achievers Award (NQCAA) held at the Iloilo Convention Center, Iloilo City.
Luis Jr. also received a cash award of P20,000 plus plaque of recognition. He attributes his award as a result of the strong and efficient D.A – LGU collaborative efforts and excellent performance in the development of the corn industry in Binalonan headed by Municipal Agriculturist, Ricardo Tabuac Β and municipal officials under the leadership of Mayor Ramon N. Guico Jr., Vice Mayor Melecio Patague II and Congressman of the 5th District of Pangasinan, Ramon V. Guico III.
It can be recalled that the Municipality of Binalonan was a recipient of the Hall of Famer Corn Achievers Award for being an awardee to this prestigious competition for three consecutive rows in November 2016 during the 12th National Corn Congress and 4th National Quality Corn Achievers Awards at the Carpenter Hill, Koronadal City, and South Cotabato.
In the same awarding ceremony, Ilocos Region shone anew at the National Quality Corn Achievers Award 2019 with Outstanding Province, City/Municipality, AEWs and Hall of Famer Awards.
Bringing honor and pride also to 5th District of Pangasinan is the Municipality of Sto. Tomas recognized as Hall of Famer Awardee for having achieved the Outstanding Municipality Award for three consecutive years. Sto. Tomas received P2M cash incentive for projects plus Plaque of Recognition.
The National Quality Corn achievers Award is a yearly endeavour of the Department of Agriculture to boost and strengthen the countryβs corn production stakeholders toward achieving the renewed vision of corn sufficiency and higher incomes for the corn farmer-entrepreneurs.
