Dream big, but donโt forget the small people.
This was stressed by Pangasinanย Fifth District Representative Ramon V. Guico III on February 3 when he was guest speaker of the Monday flag ceremony of the House of Representatives at the Batasang Pambansa in Batasan Hills,ย Quezon City.
Addressing the House workforce, Congressman Guicoย said, โWhile we dream big, while we think of big things, let us not forget the small people, literally and figuratively.ย
โHelping the small people, and dreaming big, I think we could really create a huge impact,โ added the congressman.
Adding emphasis to his message, Congressman Guico presentedย the seven members of the Small Action Force (SAF) who he said were already with him during the election campaigns.
Giving opportunityย to the members of the SAF, (named after the famous Special Action Force),ย the former Mayor hired them as his bodyguards and they also hold various functions in the municipal hall.
Guico also cited some of the landmark projects of theย town when he was still the town mayor. He particularly mentioned the establishment of the University of Eastern Pangasinan which he jokingly referred to as UP of Binalonan or Upper Palengke,ย it being housed at the second floor of the public market building.
The congressman proudly informed that after 14 years, UEP already has more than 2500 students coming from the various towns of the fifth district who are enjoying free tuition fee. He also informed UEP is the first legally- recognizedย local university in the region.
Guico also mentioned Binalonan is hosting the first economic zone in the province with the Japanese firm,ย Sumi North-Philippines Wiring System, which will create more than ten thousand jobs.ย
With February as Love Month, Congressmanย Guico gave out red roses to the employees present during the ceremony hosted by the Congressional Policy and Budget Research Department of the House of Representatives.
