This was underscored by Binalonan Vice Mayor Melicio F. Patague II on October 8 when he represented Mayor Ramon N. Guico, Jr. as guest speaker during the 16th anniversary of the Retired Teachers Fellowship Organization held at the Binalonan Tent Events Center with the theme, “Retirees Coming Up With Continuing Commitment As Partners Towards a Progressive Binalonan.”
Patague said, “The longevity of an organization depends on how you work together and unite yourself for a common goal. With 16 years of togetherness, continue to provide inspiration to Binalonians.”
“You are equipped with knowledge and wisdom. Share us your knowledge. Don’t confine yourself in the four corners of your room.”
“We would like to provide employment for you. We want you to be more productive so our Sangguniang Bayan passed a municipal ordinance giving the senior citizens and people with disabilities a chance to get employed,” said the vice mayor.
The vice-mayor cited some of the on-going projects of the municipal government like the heritage center, museum, visitors’ center and the amphitheater.
“We want to provide better service for you. We want to participate in all your activities. May God give you more years just like one of your members, Mrs. Felisa Grospe who is still active as senior citizen officer at age 94 ,” Patague said.
Dr. Erlinda Mones, the association’s vice president, introduced the guest speaker.
Headed by the association’s president, former municipal councilor Antonio Milanes, with the officers presented a resolution to Vice Mayor Patague and members of the Sangguniang Bayan asking for a quarter or office for the association.
New members of the association were inducted and had their pledge of loyalty.
Dr. Lelia Meimban, a new member of the association gave the closing remarks, challenging each and everyone to stay trim and fit to be able to help other members.
After the morning program, lunch was served followed by socialization, parlor games, and raffle draw.
