LGU Binalonan receives almost Php 3.675 M for 4Ps livelihood programs; 65 beneficaries get aid for hog raising start-up

The Local Government Unit of Binalonan on Oct 23 received Php 3.675 million from the Provincial Department of Social Welfare and Development for the Sustainable Livelihood Program of the members of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4 P’s).

Binalonan Councilor Josephine Caburnay, Municipal Welfare and Development Officer Marilyn Imbat, and Secretary to the Mayor Evangeline Acuar received the check from DSWD officer and Provincial Sustainable Livelihood Program Coordinator Ronald Gabriel.

Gabriel said LGU Binalonan is very supportive of the programs of the DSWD and always comply with the requirements. Php2.8 million pesos was already granted earlier to selected 4Ps members for their livelihood program.

Imbat informed that 245 members of the 4Ps would be the beneficiaries of the financial assistance as part of the SLP of the DSWD that aims to improve the socio-economic capacity of the members through micro-enterprise development and employment facilitation.

Sixty five members of the 4Ps on November 21 were given capital of 2 piglets and 6 cavans of feeds for their hog raising project during the distribution program held at Binalonan Events Tent.

Sta. Catalina has 30 recipients, Pasileng Sur-7, Capas-6, Bugayong-6, Dumayat-5, Sumabnit-4, Sta. Maria Norte-4, Mangcasuy-2, and Sto. Nino-1.

Councilors Josephine Caburnay, Noel Apolinario Bautista, Jerry Aradanas, Lorenzo Tambo, and DSWD employees were present during the distribution.

According to Imbat, out of the 1375 members of the 4Ps in Binalonan, 700 have already received financial assistance under the SLP who are now into goat raising, hog raising, and rice retailing. Some members were given capital for their sari-sari stores. Others were given tribikes with umbrellas for selling vegetables and other products.

Short courses on housekeeping and computer training were also given free to some beneficiaries.

Jeny Rose Ochoco and Cyril Aquino of DSWD Binalonan monitor the implementation and development of the programs.
